We thought we would start this new year out right away with a blog post from a wedding that we have been meaning to post about for a long time. We must admit that while business was back to normal last year, our blogging got a bit lazy! But, hey, what better time to renew the blogging commitment than with a New Year! While it feels like we should commit to doing at least two a month, we won’t beat ourselves up if it ends up being one a month!
We are also starting the year off with a few missed 2021 weddings that we had the intention of sharing last season and, well, you know, our blogging was just not a priority. So the next few posts will be from 2021 weddings …. still great stories to tell and share with you, and we hope you enjoy them!
Allison and Julian were married at Sugar Bowl Resort, and while their Covid postponed wedding was not threatened by wildfire, the smoke from the Caldor Fire and high winds on the day of their wedding were just a few blips we navigated that day …. for example, instead of going to the scenic Donner Lake overlook, which was masked by all the smoke, we opted for a more sheltered area across the way that still had some amazing granite hillsides and a field surrounded by tall trees.
One of the highlights of the day was when they took a canoe out on Lake Mary after the ceremony. Despite the high winds, Julian’s skills as a kayaker were necessary to steer the boat and make sure they didn’t end up in the lake, lol!
And we always love photographing the Hora … Scott was able to shoot from the balcony above the dance floor while I was in the middle of the crowd that was dancing in circles around the couple.
Thanks as always to Kerry of Blue Sky Events for the impeccable planning of this long awaited wedding!
