Kristina Price and Colin Dircks celebrated their ceremony on the afternoon of July 25 at the Resort at Squaw Creek. They were a fabulous and mellow couple to work with. Their ceremony was small and intimate and their reception was held in the Ristorante Montagna just off the spa deck. They had me show up shortly before the ceremony, for a little getting ready photojournalism and then the wedding photography for their ceremony and part of the reception. It was a fairly short day, 6 hours, and we packed in as much as we could. I learned something important from this wedding also. Kristina was getting ready in a room very similar to the ones most of the brides seem to get here. Facing away from the golf course and overlooking a parking lot and some shaded trees. Not much light coming in. We wanted to do some portraits of her alone, without heading outside, since guests were already starting to arrive. One of her friends had a room on the opposite side of the hall, overlooking the golf course. The sunlight streaming in through the white shade fabric was gorgeous, and by moving a few chairs, we were able to take some nice photographs. I would recommend to future brides to consider asking for a room on that side of the resort. At the very least, you will have more light to see by while getting ready, and you can peek out at your ceremony site to see whose there….

Sometimes the room used for getting ready is soo crowded and cluttered that we have to get creative to make a few pictures before the ceremony.
Bridal portrait of Kristina at the Resort at Squaw Creek. If you are thinking of having your wedding here, try to get a room facing the green. The light is much better for getting ready pictures in the afternoon.
A few nice black and white shots of Kristina after she got ready. Again, having a room that faces the afternoon sun, over the golf course, makes for much better photography prior to the ceremony.

A little motion is captured while walking out to the bridge for some wedding portraits after Kristina and Colin’s ceremony at the resort at Squaw Creek. I like this venue over some of the other golf course venues beacuse they pretty much allow us free reign of the grounds to take pictures as long as we keep our eyes out, and don’t interfere with golfers. Most other venues have a strict policy of not allowing photography on the golf course period.
The bridge heading out onto the golf course is always one of my favorite stops for portriats like this one of Kristina and Colin that set the scene for their Resort at Squaw Creek wedding
