by Scott,
Having a wedding at Las Cascadas in Reno, Nevada during COVID-19 or anywhere for that matter is no small accomplishment. Wedding and event workers were the first to get shut down and the last to be allowed to re-open. As bad as it has been for us, it has been even more difficult for our couples who have planned and budgeted for this momentous occasion only to have to push their dates back to the summer, then back farther to the fall, then sometimes back a full year in the hopes that a vaccine is created that will allow them to have their dream wedding.
Many of our couples have taken a different and increasingly popular route, the micro wedding or COVID elopement. These pared down events can have all the glitz and sparkle of a full wedding, just with a lot less people, or they could be a guerrilla style elopement along the shores of Lake Tahoe. When Traci and Jeremy hired me to photograph their wedding at the amazing Las Cascadas venue in north Reno, we spent some time talking over all the options. They eventually went for the full-fledge wedding, but just with their closest family and friends. We also pared the shooting time down from 8 hours to 6 hours to account for the smaller event and save them a little money in the process.
Las Cascadas is a newer wedding venue in Reno, Nevada and has become one of my favorites for the way it is laid out. They intentionally have beautiful spaces for photography that are kept free of clutter and decorations allowing us to quickly walk around the property and find amazing locations for family photos, wedding party photos and even some more creative photos as the sun sets.
