Allison and Brian were married on August 7 at the Gatekeepers Museum in Tahoe City. I first started with some candids of Allison getting ready with her girls and a brief visit to Brian with his guys at the Resort at Squaw Creek. Allison and Brian decided to see each other before the ceremony so that we could have a lot of time to capture them during their portrait session. I set Brian up with his back turned to see Allison for the first time in a quiet grove of trees at the Resort. At the Gatekeepers Museum, we did some photos among the tall trees, along the shady path down to the beach, and then with the deep blue Lake Tahoe as the backdrop. They had their cocktail hour on the lawn near the lake, and there were a few lawn games set up on one side for people to play. Dinner was provided by Mountain Magic Catering, and the dj was a friend of theirs from the city. As the speeches were wrapping up, the wind was kicking up, and the sky was bright orangish gray …. they had been keeping their eyes out on the weather, with possible thunderstorms heading towards us. About half way through the mother son dance, the first rain drops began to fall, and literally as soon as the song was over, the down pour began. People rushed to protect and move the sound equipment and found shelter inside the small Gatekeepers Museum among the basket gallery and stuffed animal squirrels and post cards in the lobby. Bottles of champagne were brought in from the drenched bar, and the music, dancing and libations continued for a while longer until they eventually decided to move the party over to the Bridgetender across the street. While Allison and Brian were inside the museum dancing with their guests, I was out on the beach, getting pretty wet in the storm, photographing the double rainbow over the lake. If it wasn’t raining so hard, I would have coerced them to come out to be in the photos, but her handmade dress would have gotten soaked!
