Kim and Brendan were married at Gar Woods just before fall turned in to winter. This time of year seems to give us some of the most spectacular Lake Tahoe sunsets, and this day was no exception! Kim and Brendan met  while they both worked at Gar Woods several years ago. So, for this local Tahoe couple, it was a no-brainer to celebrate their wedding there. The evening ended with the couple, and even Kim’s dad(!), dancing on the bar. I have a feeling this may not be something that is normally done at Gar Woods’ weddings, but since the owners were guests, I am pretty sure they gave their blessing to the bar top dance!

For this wedding I brought along my sister Nanette who I am training as a second shooter. She has developed a great eye over the years, and I have included several of her images in this post. She lives in the Santa Cruz Mountains where we grew up, and is becoming quite a strong photographer in her own right! She took on a wedding of her own for a friend during the holidays, so she really wanted to immerse herself in a whole day before her friend’s wedding. At the end of the night, she was absolutely exhausted and expressed to me how she finally understood what my job entails both physically and mentally. Yeah, it is a lot of work, but so worth it!
