Melissa and Casey’s amazingly detailed wedding was at The HideOut near Kirkwood, and while it was a rainy, (snowy over the pass) freezing temps kind of a September day, that did not put a damper on this celebration. Melissa is a wedding planner with Blue Sky Events, and we work with her often throughout the wedding season. So, since she is a wedding planner, you can imagine the fabulous details that went in to this wedding day. In fact, we are including a ton more detail shots here than we normally do because there were just so many personal touches everywhere. Pinners will have a field day with this blog post!
Because of the rain, the ceremony was moved inside the main log cabin lodge and an extra tent was ordered for the dance floor, coffee bar and lounge. But the rain was nice enough to hold off long enough for their first look in the field and their portrait session with their wedding party.
The HideOut has fast become one of our favorite wedding venues. This beautiful, rustic property is perfect for a wedding weekend, with a big field for guests who want to camp, and a main lodge with ample bedrooms, as well as the saloon that has rooms upstairs. Scott and I got there a day early with our Aliner pop up trailer so we could spend some time to get to know the property. Our favorite feature is the huge, 30 person hot tub, built right into the side of the granite hillside, with a view of the lake below it. Not only is it great for photographs, it was really nice to soak in at the end of the first evening too!
We are also thrilled to let you know that this wedding was featured on the nationally recognized Wedding Chicks website! Check it out and read some more straight from the bride herself.

The main lodge at The HideOut near Kirkwood overlooks a lake and is surrounded by granite hills.

Accommodations include camping in a big field. There is a bona fide saloon on the property that also has rooms on the second floor.

Melissa and her mom having their hair and makeup done before the ceremony. I like this image because it captures the uneasiness of the rainy day leading up to the wedding. Melissa was pretty darn nervouse all the way up until the ceremony. I feel like they will look back on this image and remember that part of the day too as a part of the story.

Each of the brides maids and groomsmen took turns sharing the job of wedding officiant. What a unique and personal aspect of the ceremony that we have never seen done before!

Casey is a hotshot firefighter. He had such a busy summer leading up to the wedding! His dusty hat was in the master bedroom, and while I was getting some detail shots of Melissa’s bouquet, I thought it would be nice to add his hat to a few of them.

Melissa had 2 different floral crowns, one for the ceremony, and one for the reception. Casey and the groomsmen had completely different boutonnieres.

As the rain began to pour down, a fire was lit in the grand room of the main lodge and the fireplace became the perfect, cozy location for the wedding ceremony.

The ceremony site was pretty packed inside the main room, so some of the guests watched from the deck.

Melissa and Casey made a lot of the reception decor, including this bar sign.
