Lake Tahoe Wedding Venues

This page will continue to grow as we have time to add more content to it. So many of our clients make Lake Tahoe their wedding destination but live far away so we thought adding a page that shows the various wedding venues around Lake Tahoe might be helpful. We hope it is. This is not intended to showcase our best work, just to give you a quick idea of what the ceremony site, reception site and grounds look like at some of the more popular wedding venues in the Lake Tahoe area.

The Olympic Village Lodge at Squaw Valley has a great, private outdoor couryard with wonderful visuals for the ceremony site. There are lots of options both onsite and off for portraits, and it has a large roomy interior for receptions that can be decorated however you like, plus room to dance!

Northstar at Tahoe has two wedding venues up on its slopes. Schaffer's Camp , this venue, and the Zephyr Lodge are pretty close at the top of Lookout Mountain. Schaffer's Camp has a scenic ceremony site out on the deck facing the western mountains and a cozy interior with floor to ceiling windows that face the setting sun. Both venues are accessed via a gondola and a chairlift ride.

Squaw Valley High Camp is a great wedding ve nue winter or summer. It can be cold and windy in the winter, but if you are a snowsports fan, you can ski into and out of your wedding. The ceremony site is on the front deck overlooking Lake Tahoe. The reception area is in the Terrace Restaurant downstairs and is a semi-circle layout with the dance floor in the center and great views.

Edgewood Golf and Country Club at Lake Tahoe is one of the c lassic South Lake Tahoe wedding venues. It has a private beach for portraits, and three seperate ceremony and reception venues. Expect to see other weddings there on weekends in the summer, but these guys are pros at keeping things orderly. They allow you to arrive onsite one-hour prior to your wedding.

The Winters Creek Lodge at Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe offers a large outdoor patio with a forest background for their wedding ceremony site. The lodge itself is spacious with floor to ceiling windows. And the views down into Washoe Valley are hard to beat.

The Hellman-Ehrman mansion at Lake Tahoe is a Califo rnia State Park that offers amazing lake views and a backdrop of what could pass for a castle. There are separate buildings to get ready in for the bride and groom, and a ceremony site looking over the lake. You share this with the public during the day, but usually by sunset time there are only a few stragglers. The reception area is outdoors next to the mansion and is usually well lit with market lights.

The West Shore Cafe is located in the Homewood area on the west shore of Lake Tahoe and offers and intimate wedding day experience with a lake-front lawn, pier and main floor of the inn. They have a few rooms for the bride and groom to stay in as well as some lake front cottages directly next to the inn.

The Historic Thunderbird Lodge is one of the more extrav agant venues at Lake Tahoe. Stone buildings and pathways line the property, all with a Lake Tahoe backdrop. Tours of the grounds are given to guests as they arrive, including a walk through the underground tunnel that leads to the boathouse where the famous Thunderbird wood boat resides.

Valhalla is another historical venue on the south shore of Lake Tahoe and includes the grand hall for ceremonies, and a pier for sunset photos. This location has some of the tallest trees at the lake.

The Lodge at Sugar Bowl ski area is a great rustic venue featuri ng a rustic alpine lodge, beautiful mountain views, quick access to the Donner Lake overlook, a great spot for pictures, and options to take a chairlift ride to the top of the mountain.

White Wolf Mountain is a privately own ed ski resort that encompasses that terrain between Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows. This venue is as low key as the come. Property owner Troy Caldwell works with clients to make their vision come true. The ceremony site is located on a small lake, with canoes for guests. There is a log kitchen and stage and plenty of lawn for outdoor receptions. The only real building access is the unfinished base of his private ski lift, which makes for a cool industrial feel to some of the photos.

The Twenty Mile House in Graeagle is a gre at, secluded venue. There is the historic main building and general store where the reception is held. The trees all around are decorated with lights and photograph great at night. The main ceremony site is in the forest with another on the lawn out back of the house. The light in the forest can be tough on mid-day ceremonies, but the access to forest and rivers and fields and train tracks on the property make for great portrait locations closer to sunset.
