Magan and Kevin were married on an early fall day in Truckee in the backyard of a beautiful private residence in the Lahontan community. They had an intimate wedding there, and then moved over to a small reception at the Cedar House Sport Hotel. The Cedar House stopped doing big weddings a few years back, so it is a treat to work there when they book small weddings only a few times a year. The mid September day was pretty breezy and although we had planned to do some pre ceremony portraits up at the Donner Lake overlook, we decided to stick to Donner Lake and the forest and field next to the ceremony site. To get to Donner Lake for the pre ceremony portraits, we took a ride in a beautiful black 1949 cadillac. The owner drove us to the lake, and we talked about the car, the original interior and how well maintained it has been for all these years. The couple had a small wedding party: Kevin’s brother, Magan’s sister and her two nieces. After their ceremony, the couple had their first dance in the forest next to the ceremony site, with the beautiful late afternoon golden light adding a nice warmth to the scene. Over at the Cedar House, the couple and their friends and families enjoyed cocktail hour, dinner and desserts followed by a few toasts. Everyone also enjoyed the fire pit in the court yard.
