Our friends Roger and Michelle got married at Palisades Tahoe and had their dreamy, lushly decorated ceremony and reception at High Camp. Roger has been one of Scott’s river friends for many, many years, and when he introduced Michelle to us and our group of river friends a few years ago, we knew she was special and a perfect match for Roger.

They are both biologists working for the US fish and Wildlife Service so one of the themes of their wedding was ” It’s O-Fish-al,” as mentioned at the beginning of their ceremony by the officiant, another good friend Manny, and written on some of the many, many cookies that their families made for their Pittsburgh cookie table.

Another whimsical theme of their wedding day was loosely based on The Lord of the Rings, with Michelle wearing beautiful golden elf ear earrings, and Roger saying some of his vows in Elvish!

During the ceremony, Roger also took a moment to step over to the railing and literally shout from the mountain top how much he loves her! There were a lot of tears of joy during their vows, and I too had to wipe away some tears from behind my camera!

Scott and I tag teamed photographing this wedding so that we could also enjoy it as guests, we even got to dance until the final song and have a few cocktails through out the night!

The sunset session was one of the most magical, beautiful portrait sessions we have done at High Camp with a huge field of several types of wild flowers that we walked to for the golden light just as the sun was dipping behind the mountains. One of the great things about having Scott and I as a team is that we definitely each have our own vision for how we see and document the day, including this portrait session … I was seeing them engulfed in the flowers, while Scott was incorporating the flowers and the last light on the mountains. And to say I was slightly obsessed with Michelle’s dress is an understatement as it was one of my all time favorite wedding dresses! So I had her twirl around to capture the colorful detailed embroidery on the sleeves, the front, and the train.

Oh yeah, and the sunset that night was EPIC! After the wild flowers, we were walking back to the reception, and the clouds were getting brighter and brighter as we walked. We knew we had to keep them out there for just a few more minutes to capture it.

Congrats you two, we were honored to be a part of your wedding day!

Scroll to the very end to see the other amazing vendors, and to see a photo of all of us river people at the wedding, Scott and I are dressed in our usual black wedding work clothing in the very front.
