Katie and Todd were married in mid October at the Nakoma Resort in the Lost Sierra. We did their Lake Tahoe engagement session last Spring where we met their sweet dog Trout, who played a role in the proposal by wearing a dog tag that said, “will you marry me?” Todd is a fellow kayaker that we have known for several years and it has been so fun to get to know Katie over the past few years as well. We got to see some of our other kayaking friends at the wedding too!
The club house at Nakoma, where the wedding ceremony and reception were held, is a beautiful building designed by Frank Lloyd Wright! So we made sure to capture a lot of the architecture in the detail shots and as the backdrop for some portraits, speeches and dancing. The golden fall colors were a theme of the wedding, which included yellow aspen leaves in all of the floral arrangements. And luckily we found a small stand of golden aspens that was a perfect backdrop for their couple portraits. The Island of Black and White band played for the dancing portion of the reception, and the lead singer even rode around on a unicycle and played an accordion … at the same time! Katie and Todd had a sparkler send off to end the night.
