Mari and Rodney were married on March 13 at the Blue Angel Cafe in South Lake Tahoe, followed by a reception at the same location. It was a beautiful day, warm for March, no wind, and still some snow on the ground to add to the winter wedding feel. It was an intimate wedding, and I enjoyed documenting the coming together of family and friends. Here are a selection of images from their wedding.
A time to celebrate, with champagne and mixed berries, yummy!
Mari before the ceremony in her room at the Deerfield Lodge where she got ready with her mom, sister and maid of honor.
I usually make sure to get a shot of the bride’s shoes at some point while she is getting ready. I thought Mari’s tattoo added a nice touch to the shoe detail shot
Rodney the groom, helps Mari’s son, Maxwell, with his tie. I love capturing the candid moments when kids are being kids.
Mari sees her son Maxwell for the first time the day of the wedding.
Another nice moment between mother and son.
To completely document the ceremony, I like to move around, capturing the faces of the bride and groom, and even the friends and family.
After the ceremony, I took Mari, Rodney and Maxwell to a pier nearby. We spent some time on the pier, and on the snow covered beach.
The new family enjoys the sun and the stillness of Lake Tahoe.

So much of a portrait session can focus on the bride, so it is nice to get moments like this that really show off the groom too!
Rodney and Mari sharing some fun on the beach. This image was done using a lens baby, which creates the blurred edges.
The reception site was decorated with a black and white color scheme, very elegant, but not too formal, just the right style for this intimate winter wedding.
