Wow, it has been a busy summer so far! I absolutely loved all the weddings I photographed during the month of June, and I am just now catching up on some over due posting. I must admit it is hard to juggle blogging with all of the great out door activities in Tahoe during the summer … I have been hiking, swimming at the lake, mountain biking, kayaking, and even tried paddle boarding over the past several weeks. So I am playing catch up now with the first wedding I photographed at Lake Tahoe in June. Most of the weekends in June were a little drizzly and gray, but all of my June brides didn’t let the weather spoil any part of their day.
On June 6th, I arrived at Cirra and Ian’s wedding location at Meeks Bay on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe at about 1:00, and the rain was coming and going for the next several hours. They decided to do the ceremony outside, and they also wanted to do the portraits in the light drizzle as well. I think the cloudy sky added a nice touch to the images, the light was even and soft, and the wetness all around them made everything look a little mystical. I have known Cirra for several years as a fellow wedding vendor, she owns her own florist business, Amaryllis Designs, in the Tahoe area. It is always an honor when a fellow wedding colleague chooses me to document their wedding day because it is a small vendor community, and almost every one knows or is an acquaintance of each other.
Every wedding I photograph is unique, and I always try to remember different details about each event. For Cirra and Ian’s, one of the most memorable moments for me was listening to the part of her mother’s speech about how Cirra got her unique name when her mother and father were in a little boat on Lake Tahoe right before she was born, and she looked up at the beautiful cirrus clouds above them.
