An impromptu portrait on the pier at Captain Jon’s restaurant on Lake Tahoe’s north shore
Sherry and Jason held their wedding in the Water Gardens at the Hyatt in Incline Village and their reception at Captain Jon’s restaurant. I have shot a lot of weddings at the Hyatt, and if your size permits it, the water gardens with its secluded location and beautiful landscaping offers much better potential for photography than the often crowded cottage greens. After an intimate wedding ceremony and some pictures in the flowers at the Hyatt, we moved to Lake Tahoe and Captain Jon’s for some fine food, and great views of the lake. This was the first wedding I have shot at Captain Jon’s. The food was astounding and their pier and beach made for a great setting for the wedding photography. The only drawback is that if you have more than 100 people all told, this venue may be a bit small and parking is limited. We got lucky this time and the clouds that were threatening rain all day lit up a spectacular golden color right at sunset.
