Julie and Eric’s downtown Truckee wedding

By Monique

Julie and Eric had a small wedding in downtown Truckee with a ceremony at a local church and the reception at the incredible Cedar House Sport Hotel. They decided to see each other before the ceremony so we would have time to walk around town for their portrait session. With a small wedding party of just Julie’s friend as her maid of honor and Eric’s brother as best man, it was a relaxed, fun walk, without feeling rushed. We started at the hotel. I just love the modern industrial metal meets Tahoe rustic feel of this place! And it is a green, sustainably built building, check out the link above for more details. After some bridal portraits with the huge log beams and corrugated metal siding of the hotel, we took a walk along the train tracks that run right through downtown. We even worked in some time for them to sit down at Jax on the Tracks to share a milkshake. Julie’s look fit right in with the nostalgic diner atmosphere. After a lovely ceremony at the Church of the Mountains, the reception began with a lively cocktail hour at the Cedar House. The architecture of the 2 reception rooms with the floor to ceiling windows, angular wood beems, and indoor/outdoor dining gave the area an open, inclusive feeling. The spectacular food, prepared by the onsite restaurant Stella, was served at various stations. Toasts and dancing were on the intimate outdoor patio joining the 2 main buildings of the reception space.
