Have I told you how much I love Burning Man weddings? Yes, I have, and over the years I’ve posted images from playa weddings, mostly wedding ceremonies that I just happen upon and poach because I just love weddings! But it is a special honor to be the photographer at a Burning Man wedding. While Anna and Danny will be having their official wedding along the Sonoma Coast in a few weeks, they wanted to have a wedding at Burning Man too because that is where they met! Scott and I met them at their camp before sunset where their campmates were toasting them, drinking champagne and waiting out a few nasty dust storms before we all rode our bikes as a group all the way across the open playa to an art installation that spelled out the word Magic, by artist Laura Kimpton. As sunset was approaching, the weather started to clear up. Part of the adventure of Burning Man is the frequent onslought of dust storms. Some are massive and last for hours, but this year’s burn week was blessed with many dusty days, but the duration of the storms never really required hours of hunkering down in white out conditions. As we made our way across the playa, there was a bit of a dust storm that ended up looking great in the photos, as the group all rode together with the Temple barely visible in the backgorund. The ceremony next the the Magic sign was informal, fun and another celebration with more champagne, laughter and of course a few tears of hapiness. Anna’s brother, Rob, came to Burning Man for the first time this year to walk his sister down the aisle, while Danny’s besty, Ali, walked him down the aisle.
